Each year, one young lady from Mitchell High School is crowned Persimmon Festival Queen during the annual week-long festival - until this year. On the third Wednesday before the crowning of the queen, the first girl is murdered. One week later, to the day, another young lady dies. Mayor Morris, a devout Christian, seeks God's direction for Chief Michaels and his police officers as they investigate the murders, struggling against time to prevent another young lady's death.
